Solar feed-in tariffs

Solar feed-in tariffs (FiTs) are a way of encouraging the uptake of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.

Solar feed-in tariffs vary depending on the state you live in.

In Victoria and South Australia feed-in tariffs are based on a net tariff scheme. A net tariff scheme means that you may receive a FiT when excess electricity generated by the solar PV system is exported to the electricity grid.

In Victoria, if you are a small customer with a solar PV system there are two solar feed-in tariff schemes: a premium feed-in tariff (PFiT) and a retailer feed-in tariff (RFiT) scheme.

Premium feed-in tariff (PFiT)

The PFiT is closed to new customers.

If you already have a PFiT agreement in place with another retailer you can switch retailers and continue to receive a PFiT rate of 60 cents / kWh. You will need to enter into a new PFiT agreement with us for this to happen.

Retailer feed-in tariff (RFiT)

If you have recently installed a solar PV system you can apply to receive the retailer feed-in tariff (RFiT). Our RFiT rate is currently 11.3 cents / kWh but this rate is subject to change.
